IT might not be the most exclusive car in the world, nor the fastest, but when you hear that Porsche's latest customer-racing model, the 911 GT3 RSR, is hand-built and will go to just 35 buyers, you get the idea it is something special.
The update of the car that won its class last year at the Le Mans and Nurburgring 24-hour endurance races has been made even better for the new racing season courtesy of many changes. These include aerodynamics (it now has "flicks" on the front airdam), the suspension (the configuration stays the same but a raft of adjustability has been added to improve handling and tyre grip) and the sequential gearbox which is basically a carryover from the awesome RS Spyder that swept all before it in the American Le Mans series. The 3.8-litre "boxer" engine is still good for 342 kilowatts and 430 Newton metres of torque and the rear bodywork is the same as the old car.We have heard that two of the cars are destined for Australian buyers but there is no word on who they are. Whoever they may be, they will be expected to hand over $600,000 for the privilege.
