Tips for saving petrol costs:

1. Minimise vehicle use by switching off your engine, if you think you will be stationary for more than two minutes. Walk, if you can.

2. Reduce the weight your car needs to carry. Taking off roof racks and additional parts on the exterior of your vehicle could be a way of doing this.

3. Avoid peak hour and heavy traffic where possible.

4. Drive smoothly and avoid accelerating and decelerating.

5. Don't speed, as it results in high and unnecessary fuel consumption.

6. Inflate your vehicle's tyres to the highest pressure recommended.
