WARILLA'S Jason Eder was a proud man yesterday after his 330 Stroker was named runner-up in the best engine bay category at the South Coast Holden Owners Club's annual charity show 'n' shine.
"It is the first trophy I have won," he said."It took a lot of work."In 2004 Mr Eder became a quadriplegic after breaking his neck in a diving accident at Bass Point. The 1991 HDT vehicle which he purchased 12 months ago has been modified with customised hand controls that allow him to take out his pride and joy a couple of times a week. But it was the chrome work that caught the judges' eyes. What wasn't polished aluminium was powder-coated red - matching Mr Eder's wheelchair.Mr Eder's car was one of 245 on display at Kembla Grange yesterday.Although hosted by Holden enthusiasts, club spokesman John Titcume said yesterday's show brought together "anything and everything".More than 2000 people passed through the gates, with the money raised given to Life Education. The show 'n' shine was the club's sixth.Mr Titcume said drivers came from as far as Lismore and numbers were boosted by entrants from Canberra and Sydney. He said the day's highlight was the 55/56 Chevy Coupe.
